The Public Space Fanatic applauds the New Yorks Times on it’s recent article entitled “Designers Stretch Out Imaginations on Park Benches” As many of you know, Streetscapes, Inc. has been promoting the idea that street furniture should be fun, functional and builds on the character of it’s location for many years now. I guess you could say that we were urban pioneers on this subject and ahead of our time.
While the New York Times article focused on park benches, our emphasis is on pedestrian intensive public spaces. We offers distinctive, durable and functional products designed for public spaces – parks, pedestrian zones, mixed use developments, retail business districts, multi-family housing and transportation related projects. We believe that outdoor furniture and site amenities should support the demographics – adults, couples, families; groups, kids, teens, seniors and pets – of public places.
We have partnered with world-class outdoor furniture manufacturers who understand the pedestrian environment and the products that are unique to each market. Our products support community engagement, the exchange of ideas, economic development; public safety, community health and walkability. And we’re a company that lives, breathes and sleep pedestrian spaces and public furniture.
It’s exciting to read that creativity in public spaces has finally become a topic of discussion in the main stream media. Thank you New York Times.
